Harvest has passed through many incarnations, as you will read in the historical note by Ann Colcord in this issue. As Chairman, I shall see the incarnation through its first few issues and then some one else will take over. Its policy will be to publish work either by Club members or based on lectures to the Club. Contributions are invited, and in case it is not possible to put into the Journal everything that comes to us, my hope is that we can have also a series of Club monographs as a second string. Work which should be available to members but can't be fitted into the Journal could then be made available separately, under the Club logo. There is much creative energy in the Club. To penetrate to the objective psyche within oneself and give it form in the outer world, like Haephestus in his smithy, is the essence of the Work. All creation, as Goethe said, comes von innen heraus, from within out. It is the rhythm of the planet too and the path to individuation of all of us. And though the written word is only one of many ways of doing that, it is the one which the Club can most easily help with. I, personally, will publish in Harvest but also in monograph form. So, probably, will all the contributors to this number and we hope that others will join us.

Individuation is inseparable from the making of consciousness. It is the end and telos of the human to serve as the consciousness of this dumb but so-beautiful world. "Soul-making", James Hillman called it, who had that most important thought, that it is the unconscious itself which individuates and not the ego.
