Michael Vannoy Adams

Michael Vannoy Adams is an internationally prominent Jungian analyst who offers psychotherapy for individuals and couples in New York City.
Jungian analysis is a unique psychotherapy. What is so distinctive — and so special — about Jungian analysis is that it emphasizes images. Jungian analysis is a psychotherapy that exercises and explores the imagination.
"Every psychic process," Jung says, "is an image and an 'imagining.'" He says that "the psyche consists essentially of images," and, even more emphatically, that "image is psyche."
Vitally important images spontaneously emerge from the unconscious in the dreams of everynight life and in the experiences of everyday life. They offer us a vividly precise, profoundly expansive vision of our intimate relations, our material aspirations, our artistic creations, and our spiritual obligations.

Anne Baring

This website is devoted to the affirmation of a new vision of reality and to the exploration of the deeper issues facing us at this crucial time of choice. I would like it to be a sanctuary for the heart: a place of reconnection and healing between mind, body and soul; a focus for the emerging values that reflect our responsibility towards life, each other and the planet as a whole. I believe that the new epoch we are entering will see the emergence of:
- A new understanding of spirit
- A new understanding of nature
- A new understanding of ourselves

The C.G. Jung Page
The Jung Page was founded in 1995 to encourage new
psychological ideas and conversations about what it means to be human
in our time and place. Any worthwhile psychological theory will change
with the changing conditions of life. As we prepare for and move into
the 21st century, we need new stories and practices for new times--not
grandiose visions, just new, respectful, workable perspectives on
ourselves and the world. We need, as Jung said, "a language that alters
with the spirit of the times." In this endeavor we invite the
participation of Jungian analysts, friends of Jung, students, scholars,
and psychotherapists and psychoanalysts of all persuasions.

Jung 2.0 The Jung 2.0 web site is for those who are interested in a "progressive Jungian psychology", a Jungian psychology that is conscious of the danger of obsolesce of contemporary psychotherapies in general . . . and is dedicated to trying to make Jungian thinking viable in the 21st century. The members of this community are especially open to learning from and incorporating modern sciences (specifically evolutionary psychology and neurobiology). It is not afraid to suggest and debate revisions and offer constructive criticisms of both Jungian thinking and Jung's original ideas and writings. The articles available on this page introduce readers to progressive and thought provoking views of Carl Jung and his psychology.
We have a deep respect for Jung, both the man and his ideas. We know that Jung was an innovator and a man who was able to deeply contemplate and experience the Opposites, and who gave us a useful and complex theory of psychology. We do not take lightly this debt to Jung, but believes that it is in keeping with the spirit of Jung himself that innovation and incorporation of modern scientific evidence would benefit Jungian thought today
A major concern of is that Jungianism has sacrificed scientific rigor in favor of a more-religious belief. With this loss of science there has been an equal loss of "gnostic Jungianism", the kind of philosophical orientation that seeks to know rather than merely to believe.
This being the case, Jung 2.0 places a heavier emphasis on (as well as greater scrutiny of) depth psychology theories than many Jungians do today. Jung 2.0 is not content with the acceptance that the psyche has been "all figured out" by existing Jungian theories, nor is it content with the totemization of the "numinous and unquestionable unconscious". This is not to say that Jung 2.0 is not interested in praxis, also . . . but we lean toward the notion that the weakest links in the chain are matters of theory more so than praxis. If Jungian analytical techniques can be improved, we feel that improvement will flow from revisions to the Jungian understanding of psyche, archetype, individuation, instinct, woundedness, and disease. http://jung2.org/Articles.html

Maria Taveras

Jungian analysis is the special process that C.G. Jung (1875-1961) developed to explore the unconscious. After Jung separated from Sigmund Freud, he established a unique form of psychotherapy that explores the unconscious through dreams, myths, archetypes, the creative imagination, art, and spirituality.
Jungian analysis is a method that transforms consciousness and fosters what Jung calls "individuation," the process of self-discovery by which individuals have an opportunity to become who they are meant to be and to live a fuller, more meaningful life.
The Jungian method emphasizes images that emerge spontaneously in dreams, fantasies, and other forms of unconscious expression. From a Jungian perspective, the value of these images is in the impact they have in transforming consciousness.

Mats Winther

The online essays on depth psychology tackle difficult and controversial issues and try to avoid a rehash of old stuff. This will hopefully make them interesting to advanced readers (who are sure to find a few arguments that are slightly shaky). The enthusiasm for Jungian psychology took root early, leading to private studies. Education in physics, studies in computer science & comparative religion. Researcher and programmer of many boardgames. Mats lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
