Transference Theoretical and Clinical Debates in the 21st Century - Jan Wiener
Date: 6 November 2010
10am - 12.30pm Respondent: Warren Colman
While Jung had a natural intuitive understanding for the transference and countertransference, his lack of a coherent method and clinical technique for working with transference and his rather mercurial attitude to matters of method, have sometimes left Jungians eager to hone their knowledge in this area, floundering and confused. Drawing on contributions from both post-Jungian and psychoanalytic thinking and practice, Jan Wiener will explore some of the present-day ‘hot spots’ and debates about the centrality of transference within the analytic relationship and the clinical complexity involved when working with patients’ transference projections. Venue: The Society of Analytical Psychology Cost: £25 / £15 for students including coffee

Archetypal Gender
 By Michael Anderton
ISBN: 978 0 9558387 8 1 Price £9 plus p & p
This book examines the problems in our society to-day of gender identity and sexual orientation. The author argues that gender and sexual orientation is sourced from the basic archetypal ground of our being. Informed by Jungian concepts on the nature of the psyche, together with religious myth and spirituality, the themes are illustrated, from the case of a transsexual female to male with homosexual erotic orientation. The author take the basic hypothesis of multiple gender syndrome, recognising the interrelation of the opposites in life and personality and the hermaphrodite nature of the basic body soul.

Eve Tempted by the Sepent:- William. Blake, Victoria and Albert Museum TOWARDS THE ONE:

These conferences have developed from our continuing interest in the ways in which the Divine Feminine chooses to manifest both in times past and present, and in times to come.
Clare Goodrick-Clarke will be our guide and gatekeeper during the day, as we explore how our perceptions of the Divine are transformed by the Feminine. Clare is a writer, lecturer, holistic practitioner and meditation teacher. A faculty member of the New York Open Center since 1995, Clare has spoken at a variety of conferences and symposia including Temenos Academy, Jupiter Trust, and Scientific and Medical Network. Currently an honorary fellow of Exeter University she teaches the history of alchemy and the esoteric body (MA in Western Esotericism). Towards the Redemption of Science: a Re-Enchanted World?
George Burnett-Stuart
It is now widely felt that there is a certain unhealthiness about Science and the Technical Arts. Science ~chants the world and prepares it for use as raw material for industrial processing, whilst disturbing the feeling relationship between Nature and humanity. Science works with and reinforces the Cartesian split between mind and matter, and seems forever on the point of abolishing mind altogether.
Does Science have to be this way? It is possible that the extraordinary success of Quantum Theory (despite its weirdness) heralds the eventual triumph of a long standing alternative to the orthodox Corrosion approach to physics - and to &deuce in general. A regenerate Science, and a re-enchanted world, may be closer than we think.
Evolving Consciousness and Creating the Future
David Lorimer
The evolution of consciousness is widely acknowledged both in
scientific and spiritual terms. At a time when we face unprecedented
challenges we need to evolve rapidly at both an individual and
collective level, based on an understanding of the relationship
between the individual and the Universal Mind Spiritual teachers are
more cl~ identified and aligned with the "First Person Universal"
and form an advanced manifestation of our future potential.
The Soul of Humanity Evolves Through World Crisis
William Meader
Humanity is facing a global crisis of proportions. Yet,
when world events are examined from a spiritual perspective, it
becomes increasingly clear that we are witnessing the prelude to a
great initiator), opportunity facing humanity as a whole. Indeed, it is a
period when the Soul of Humanity is seeking to shape outer events in
support of an emerging era of human betterment and prosperity.

We invite you to join us from 20 to 25 September 2010
There are many little-known treasures (and pleasures) hidden in the lush volcanic landscape of the Auvergne. A rich hoard of Romanesque churches each sublimely reflects its own unique spirit of place, while in remote shrines and great Cathedrals, many ancient statues of the Black Madonna and “Virgin in Majesty” wait to be discovered. Their appearance is striking and can be profoundly moving. Some, like the Madonna of Le Puy, have mysterious links to the East, possibly through the Crusades. Others, like the magnificent Black Madonna of Orcival, have the dignity of the Great Mother in majesty, her divine son recalling the mysteries of Attis or Osiris, her authority emanating the wisdom of Holy Sophia. The Vera von der Heydt Public Lecture Series
A free Public Domain image from http://www.imagebase.davidniblack.com released under the Creative Commons License v3.0
LANGUAGE, NATURE AND SPIRIT
Speaker: Jim Fitzgerald
6.30 p.m. Saturday 27th November 2010
St Pancras Old Church and Gardens, Pancras Road, LONDON, NW1 1UL
Jim Fitzgerald, Jungian analyst, will launch the first in a series of annual public lectures held in memory of Vera von der Heydt, Jungian analyst and founder of the Guild of Analytical Psychology and Spirituality. This first lecture will focus on the deeper psychological connections between language, nature and spirit.
In the last article that he wrote, shortly before he died, Jung expressed the sadness many people have felt at the separation of humans from the natural world. ‘Through scientific understanding,’ he says, ‘our world has become dehumanised. Man feels himself isolated in the cosmos.’ There was a time when humans could understand the songs of birds, the barking of dogs, and the voice of the wind. Now, even as human communication develops and expands, the natural world around us has fallen silent. The Grimm fairy tale The Three Languages allows us to imagine how this split between nature and spirit may be healed, through the agency of language. This healing process involves a deeper connection to the natural world and the spiritual dimension within it.
Jim Fitzgerald, is a Jungian analyst with a private practice in London and author of The Father’s Shadow and the Source of the Masculine, and Vision of Light: The Healing Power of the Numinous published by the Guild of Pastoral Psychology. His background is Ancient Classics and Byzantine Greek. He holds a Diploma from the C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich, and is a training analyst and a member of The Guild of Analytical Psychology and Spirituality and of The Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists. He is a past Chairman of the C. G. Jung Analytical Psychology Club.
Ticket price: £20.00. Concessions: GAPS members £15.00; Students £7.50. Tickets may be purchased in advance using the form below or on the door on the night of the lecture. Doors will open at 6.00 p.m.

Psyche Moving
Authentic Movement and the Imaginal World
Saturday, 9th October, 2010
Sunday, 14th November, 2010
Sunday, 12th December, 2010
10.30am -4.30pm
Dance Research Studio
23 Orsman Road,
London N1 5RA
This is a new group for the deep exploration of the work known as 'active imagination in movement' (Chodorow). Authentic Movement invites a mover, in the presence of a witness, to enter into a relationship with the unknown or unconscious in order to become more fully engaged with Psyche. We will explore tools and strategies (Focusing, myths, fairy tales and inner visualizations) for entering bodily into this unknown territory and for integrating this material into consciousness. Both mover and witness explore his or her own inner journey and discover what the body has to say when we listen with our felt-sensing. The work is suitable for those with and without experience of the practice of Authentic Movement and for both dancers and non-dancers. Additionally, the work that emerges might usefully be taken into therapy but this group is not therapy. Nor is the group designed to develop an improvisational movement practice although the work that emerges might usefully be developed in further creative processes.
Jane is a qualified Focusing Trainer, Advanced Candidate with Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists and Reader in Performance Studies at the University of Northampton.
The cost will be £50 for the day with concessionary rates available upon request.
