Speaker: Mark Vernon
William Blake realised that the human longing to participate in infinite life has been unleashed afresh and distorted in our materialistic age, leading to an addictive, even violent striving for more. When human beings lose touch with the divine dynamics in life, the cosmos becomes bounded and small, leaving the eternal soul shut in narrow doleful form.
Particularly in the second part of his life, he expanded upon his distinctively Christian convictions to address this dire predicament. The divine dimension is both closer to us than we are to ourselves, and transcends all that we can know. This is known through practices of what he called self-annihilation and forgiveness, which this event will explore particularly in relation to insights from depth psychology.
Time: 10:30 - 16:00
Cost: £50

The somatic unconscious is an important access to our psyche. In this workshop, we will employ the safe container of Authentic Movement to gently invite this unconscious dialogue. As we engage authentically, insight into our embodied stories naturally emerges without interpretation. Art and writing facilitate understanding. With respect for each individual, we learn to honour our own and other's inner stories.
Time: 10:30 - 16:00
Cost: £50
About the Speaker:
Erica Lorentz, MEd, LPC, Jungian Analyst (IAAP) is a training analyst at the C. G. Jung Institute of New England. Her book, Body as Shadow: Jung's Embodied Individuation Process, addresses her embodied work. On Saturday some participants will have the opportunity to experience the game environments presented on Friday evening. This will entail a period of game play with guidance from members of the research team. Afterwards, participants can discuss their experience in small groups and whether being immersed in these various environments helped to catalyze an engagement with and understanding of archetypal energy. Art materials will be provided for those who may wish to articulate the experience. This will be followed by a final group discussion.
Time: 10:30 - 16:00
Cost: £50
